SCARLET'S REMAINS

Based out of Los Angeles, California, Scarlet's Remains formed in 2003 by founding member Tony Havoc (drums, formerly of Fearcult, Horrorshow, Hatesex, Voodoo Church) who recruited Johann Schumann (bass and ex Christian Death, Shadow Project, Mephisto Walz) and Brian Elizondo (guitar ex Sludgeclot, Resulles). Completing the lineup, eveghost joined as vocalist in summer 2004 and the debut album was recorded over a period of about 6 months. In early 2005 Scarlet's Remains signed to Dark Dimensions/Alice In... and the debut, self titled album was released. Summer 2004 saw Brian Elizondo depart and Benn Ra (ex Diva Destruction, Hatesex) stepped in on temporary guitar duties. Scarlet's Remains launched an onslaught of well-recieved liveshows including New York's Drop Dead 3 Festival. As Benn Ra relocated to Germany and Scarlet's Remains parted ways with Johann Schumann, 2006 saw the addition of gothic-guitar legend and debut album producer Bari Bari (ex-Christian Death, Mephisto Walz) and bassist Ashes (Zen Vodou) to form the current lin

THE PHANTOM LIMBS

The Phantom Limbs could not have chosen their appellation more carefully. Squalling about forgone appendages and carnival nightmares, lead singer Hopeless is the skeletal storyteller with the self-destructive vocal chords who propels the Limbs' rock 'n' roll monster, but it is Stevenson Sedgwick's amphetamine-driven chapel organ that gives the Limbs soul. This is rock music found in the depths of a catacomb and brought to shuddering, swirling life by Dr. Frankenstein's electrical psychosis. Thus amply fueled by static and doom, the Phantom Limbs tear apart old men and innocent babes with snarling rhythms and lurching melodies, both maddening and thrilling to those who have outgrown punk rock and goth but still shroud themselves in grainy black-and-white.

CARCASS

Most bands claim to progress with each album, though seldom can really be said to have challenged themselves with new innovations every time they step inside a studio. However, few people who picked up on a band called Carcass, and their splatter-fest Earache debut 'Reek of Putrefaction' (1988), could fail to see the true progression represented by today's incarnation. Each new Carcass record has marked a gradual and natural evolution from primitive beginnings. The band's second effort, 'Symphonies of Sickness' (1989) gave way to the more palatable 'Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious' (1991), before the dam burst with 'Heartwork' (1993) and a subsequent worldwide deal with Columbia Records buried the myth that Carcass were just another noisy 'death metal' band.
